People have been asking about the Art Bead Love chain, so I thought I'd give everyone an update on it.
I have the chain in my possession at this time. (see pic above) When we set out to do the Love Chain, we had really hoped to spread the love of handmade, and create a way for our readers and meet new people who share their love of art beads. In the end, I think we did that for ahwile.
However, it got hard for me to keep up with it, as people just weren't contacting me when they got it, ect ect. I was forever having to track it down.
In the end, people just stopped following instructions and it lost its original momentum. (which we figured may happen over time, like whisper down the lane always changes). There were many beads that are unusable or not even handmade on the chain, and we thought it was time to pull it back in.
We had a wonderful donation of art beads from Erin Praiz-Hintz of Tesori Trovati. She not only donated beads of her own making, but some from other bead artists that she wanted to share with us.
So I think we are going to retire the Love Chain. We thank you guys for participating, we hope you did make new connections and find some new bead artists you like.
We are going to glean from the chain the art beads that remain, and with Erin's donation, I think we are going to try something new.
We are going to chose a new bead artist to feature (we are still working out details), and will get to pick from the chain or box, and add their own beads to it. We will then feature the bead maker on our blog- that way you guys get to meet new artists, and the artist gets to show off their work, and swap for some new beads.
With it all may be a giveaway as well. Like I said, still working it out, but wanted to let you all know where it is!

Thank you for the update Miss Staci! I think that it was a wonderful experiment and really helped to build excitement for art beads. I am glad that you are reincarnating it into something special and I am glad that I could help to kick it off! Thanks for sharing this. I always wondered where it ended up. I was thrilled when early on when it came my way and I had fun sorting through all the beads.
I'm looking forward to seeing new bead artists.
I was so happy when I finally won a chance to gather beads from the chain. I was even happier to pass on a few handmade beads from my own stash. It was a great promotion for handmade items.
I am sad to hear that the Art Bead Chain has died off but I guess that all good things come to an end. I was lucky enough to get a chance to receive it back when it first began and I love the opportunity to 'meet' some new bead artists. I am looking forward to whatever you come up with next.
Aw, sad to read this but happy that you're thinking about another incarnation. I was so excited to receive the chain, hold it in my hands and add to it. Thanks for your generosity and the opportunity!
