On January 3rd, I blogged about "Biting the Bullet" and finally getting professional photographs taken to download to Zapplication. I am SO very happy with the results. I've applied to some of the bigger shows over the last couple of years, and have been turned down. Fingers crossed, it was the photos and not the jewelry. Come March, when the invitations/denials start rolling in, I guess I will finally know for sure.
For comparison, here are some pictures I'd previously taken and downloaded to Zapplication.
And, here are a couple of the AMAZING photos taken by Larry Sanders. He did a really great job!
Better??? I think so. Hope the jurors do, too!
What are you doing this year to up YOUR game?
As always, thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting and promoting handmade, handcrafted!

Yes, the photos are amazing and so are your pieces!
Oh my gosh. These are awesome!! You see a lot of designer photos by Larry; the man knows his photography. Fingers crossed - hope those judges accept you.
They are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! takes your work to a whole new level for sure!
Beautiful! I too am considering pro photos. How do you choose a photographer? Is there an online resource for jewelry photographers?
What a difference! I am sure that you will be receiving lots of acceptance letters this time around.
Beautiful pieces and yes, the new photos are gorgeous. I've just been looking into getting a gradient vinyl piece for photography. Do you know what he used for a setup? Some people do it in photoshop I think.
Beautiful shots. I see a new dynamic in the newer work as well. You should have no problem getting accepted with these. Stunning!
Beautiful and I think well worth it.
Speaking as someone who has been a juror for the Tempe Arts Festival here in AZ, these are exactly the kind of photos that get noticed and pop out at the jurors. And, the fact that the jewelry that's photographed is unique and very artistically and visually pleasing to the eye is another straw in your cap! Good luck!!
Karen, Larry and other photographers, are listed on the Zapplication site. And after speaking to other artists, that I knew had professional pics on Zapp, he was recommended. I had asked around about someone local, but didnt find anyone. He is in Milwaukee.
What a difference a photographer makes! Larry Sanders always does a fantastic job with jewelry creations.
Good Luck - I have a feeling you're going to get many acceptances.
Amazing! If you do not get accepted, I would venture a guess that it will not be about the photos or the jewelry. Sometimes, I think they just have too many jewelry artists, don't you? The pictures certainly make your jewelry look unbelievably professional! Keep us posted!!!
What beautiful jewelry and fantastic results! It looks so dramatic photographed this way. Congrats!
Kelli, these are GREAT! Larry's done some terrific work for me -- absolutely worth the investment!
