isbg has just passed,
bead fest philly is around the corner,
art bliss is coming up...
and there are many many other large bead shows and retreats all over the country -
a number of our members will be attending/have attended these events in different capacities and we were thinking that it would be a great opportunity to get you the information you might be interested in...
is there something of interest that we can share with you if you are unable to attend?
do you have questions or qualms that keep you from going?
do you want to go but don't know what to do once you get through the doors? (that would be me - i was so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of offerings i bought almost nothing the first time i went... i headed to my class and left when it was over!) people do have strategies and we would be happy to share them here...
there are so many makers that are giving all they have to bring you their best, it's nice to be able to appreciate it all with a calm mind...
so -
we have instructors, makers and buyers attending - how can we help before these events that might help you if you go?
or what can we bring back for you from them?
++ a question was asked re: accommodations - i found this... there are rooms set aside for bead fest and even discounts if you mention it... http://www.beadfest.com/philadelphia/hotel-travel.aspx

Awesome...as a new instructor and a first time art retreat participant, I will be writing about and photographing as much as I can to document my experience at artBLISS...I will post here and on my own blog about it too..can't wait to hear the other 'on the ground' reports too!
I have a question. Do you know what types of accommodations are made for those who do not live in the area? The biggest city near me is Syracuse and the bead show that comes that left me very disappointed the last time I went. I have absolutely no experience when it comes to attending these larger shows.
MaryAnn
hey mary ann - i added some information based upon your question -
Do these shows offer "handmade" beads? Or are they mostly gemstone strands? There are 2 shows that come to my area 2-3x each year, but it's mostly wholesale gemstones, and findings. Tables and tables and tables of it. I would hate to travel out of town and find the same thing. Can you list the ones that have artists as vendors? THANKS!!
