mary jane dodd
last week julie asked what kinds of tools we were looking to get... i have been on the hunt for a large anvil for at least 18 months... i didn't want a new one and at a local auction they just weren't turning up...
about 9 months ago, i was able to get a length of railroad track and love that just fine...
why a large anvil? it makes the work easier, it takes less of a toll on your body...
i had been checking craigs list with no luck... until last week, when i was able to get this one...
it weighs 94 lbs and is from the mouse hole forge in england... according to the way it is marked and the research i have done, it dates to around the mid 1800s...
i love it...
i learned how to read weight in stone -
that's the 0 - 3 - 10
0 x 122 = 0
3 x 28 = 84
10 x 1 = 10
or 94 lbs
the first thing i made on it...
wishing you the time to do something you love this weekend...
