work of the soul...

mary jane dodd

my kids are my heart...

my work bares my soul...

joseph campbell in 'the power of myth' advises us to follow our bliss... he was inspired by three sanskrit terms in the upanishads - sat-chit-ananda or truth-consciousness-bliss...

I, for one, have definitely found my bliss. After dabbling in glass fusing and lampwork glass (which I love for their own reasons), I always seem to come back to beadweaving. And I love that I'm actually able to earn my living by doing what I love every day!

I'm getting there! I think that someday when I am no longer dealing with parents, whose personalities explain their children's behavior, I might get there :O) Why is it that when you mostly have great students and great parents with reasonable expectations that it takes only 1 to create upset? I'm working on not letting that bother me....

I have found my bliss in retirement and having the freedom to delve into art full time. I'm maintaining two homes and studios which is an interesting balancing act. Lately my bliss has been gathering supplies which I'm hoping will transfer into many creations. I find as much pleasure in the search as the creation.
I love your metal work and the way you've photographed it enhances and highlights it so well.
