The necklaces I posted on my personal blog showed some pop rivets in use with vintage flower components. Take a look ...
A lot of us think of Rosie the Riveter when we think of pop rivets. Actually my aunt was a riveter during World War II. Because she was petite, she could fit inside the wings of airplanes.
You see that line of dimples ... those are the rivets. This "Rosie" is using a pneumatic riveter, but we're going to be using a simple pop rivet gun from the hardware store.
Here's a little video for your viewing enjoyment. Techno music, a coffee can, vintage Tupperware bowl and a rivet gun ... it's all here.
You'll notice that the pop rivet used in Aix en Provence is purple. You can find aluminum, copper and black rivets at your hardware store. The colored rivets, to the best of my knowledge, are not being made currently. But if anyone finds out otherwise, please share the information. Thank you.

Too funny!! Not an easy couple of items to rivet together lol!! So if Purple isn't available how is it that yours is Purple? Did you make it so somehow.
I'm lucky to have a handy husband, I'm sure he has a pop riveter so I'll be "borrowing" that one day I'm sure. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!!!
Kristi, I've had that rivet, plus a few more, for about 10 years! It's what happens when you get old ... you forget you have things and then you have the history to make it sound ancient. I mean if you said you had something for 10 years, that would make you 25 ... right?
That was a blast! I'm going to watch is a few times before I attempt rivets of my own :O)
Now all I need is to find myself one of those 70's Tupperware bowls. I think I've got the coffee can. Seriously, though, this makes me want to add just one more tool!
Es realmente original. Besos
Good thing my hubby has a ton of tools, I will have to steal his ;-)
Lovin' the yellow Barb!!!! You're thinking Spring already!!!
