Jewelry You Love to Wear Every Day

by Patty Lakinsmith

There's a certain kind of earrings, or necklace, or bracelet (or maybe all 3) that call to each of us every day. What kind of pieces are so easy to wear that you find yourself putting them on day after day no matter what you're wearing?

For me it seems to be these simple silver earrings:

Every Day Silver Earrings
Every Day Wear silver earrings.

and pendants in my Amulet series:

Green and Blue Amulet

What is it that makes these pieces so easy going, so compatible with anything I'd want to wear on a casual day? I guess for me it's the idea of something on a long chain, or with colors that could go with anything. The earrings in particular are very lightweight, and if I want to I can add beaded dangles to them if I want.

What pieces beckon to you every day, and why do you heed their call? What makes a piece of jewelry a good friend?

I'm more of a casual necklace person. I've been making myself wear earrings recently and I'm still trying to get used to feeling them in my ears. I own some lovely diamond studs that I've had for years and wear everyday, so this has been a new experience! I get a little distracted by feeling them move when I move ;o)

Great post, Patty. My sister calls those her "go-to" pieces. The ones she just automatically goes to without thinking. Lucky for me, her go to pieces were made by yours truly :) Unlike mine, that were made by one of my FAVORITE local artists, Roxy Lentz. (I know, I know... I need to make my own go-to pieces!!! Just too busy selling them!!!)

i love your go-to pieces... i have been mulling this question around in my head... my earrings are shibuichi and turquoise-ish colored enamel - they are grungy enough to go with everything... i feel like the plumber with a dripping faucet sometimes... i don't keep much of what i make (if at all)... and i happen to be a choker girl...

"Go-to pieces" - love that name. :-) And Mary Jane, I am astonished that you have not claimed some of your wonderful creations for your own. They are so "you".
