I always keep that in mind when presented with something new to learn, even if I am not particularly interested in the topic. Now, I don't consider myself to be really intelligent, but I do think there's something to the saying. Opening up for learning, loving, seeing, caring, makes you happy and wide-eyed and childlike, as you said.
